This is a very first rough sketch for a soup kitchen apron. It shows the various concepts that could be added or taken away for the piece.

I then went and sketched up a more detailed sketch. Afterwards, it was inked and scanned in where it was put into Photoshop. There, it was leveled so the lines were more defined.

After being put into Photoshop, it was then brought into Illustrator. Once there it was colored using a variety of colors so that when people were to come to the soup kitchen, it brought a bright and warm welcoming feel to it. It was important to think of the feelings of those who would look at the apron rather than creating something that could be forth a negative emotion.
SOUP KITCHEN
Apron Design
A soup kitchen apron is what people see first when looking at the person that is passing them their food. With this in mind, I decided on a design that I felt was fun but also pretty moderate and simple.
My design process is seen on the left from start to finish. The original concept is the first and I then developed it more and began inking. I felt that by adding the variety of vegetables this allowed for the design to show just what is made. The big pot really is the big overall picture of the design because when people first think soup kitchen, they will think of a big pot. So by combining the two concepts together this allowed for the whole design to take shape and form.
The colors for this design are meant to be bright and bring a sense of welcoming to the people that the servers see. They are also simplified so that there isn't a lot going on in the piece and so it keeps its simplicity.
